What is policy concerning Covid-19?
-
Our policy is two-fold. First, if a federal, state, or local government law or decree makes it impossible for your event to occur, we will gladly reschedule your event to another date within one year or refund your payments. Second, if you decide to cancel your event but there is not a government prohibition, if it is more than 60 days from your event when you notify us, we will refund all payments less the retainer fee. Within 60 days of your event, all fees are due Creative Sound.
-
Is there a deposit to book your services?
-
We require a non-fundable retainer fee of 40% or your contract total to book our services.
-
We saw a DJ from your company that we REALLY liked! Can we have them DJ our event and is there an additional charge?
-
YES! Our DJs are consummate professionals and are specifically requested all the time. To guarantee that your get the specific DJ you want, there is an additional charge found on our pricing page.
-
Will we get to meet our DJ before our event?
-
Yes. Dana Anderson, the General Manager of Creative Sound will be your main contact person until you are assigned a DJ 45 to 60 days prior to your event. At that time, your DJ will set up a time to talk with you a few weeks before your event. The DJ that is assigned to your event will go over the planner with you so the night will go smooth like you planned it. This is also the time your final event payment will be made.
-
What sets you apart from other DJ services?
-
Integrity and experience mainly! We have over 40 years in the DJ business with an average of 150 events a year, mostly weddings, we've seen and done just about everything. (We're still finding new ways of doing things!) We are proud of our record of NEVER having missed an event…ever! Some of us have been in radio for many years and understand what it is to be an entertainer as opposed to a push-button go by the script robot. With our experience, we know that to be a successful DJ/Host is the understanding of flow of the evening…the right music to play, the right words to say in certain moments, and to be able to handle any little hiccups that may show up.
-
Can you provide music/sound for our ceremony?
-
YES. Ceremony coverage is one of the add-on services found on our pricing page. Whether you're on the shores of a lake, in the middle of a state park, or in the same room as your reception, we have the equipment and experience to handle your event from start to finish.
-
Will we be able to choose our music?
-
Absolutely! You can choose as much or as little of the music as you wish. We discourage you from programming the entire evening as that limits our ability to play your guests requests. After you book with us, you'll be given access to our online planning software where you can select music to be played and also music that you do not want played. We even have a site and password you can give to your guests so they can request music in advance. You will work one on one with your host/DJ to express your desires.
-
What happens if our DJ / Host cannot make our event due to an emergency?
-
In our 40 year history, Creative Sound has NEVER missed a contracted event. With our wide network of DJ/Hosts, we can guarantee that we will perform at your event. In the unlikely event a regular DJ/Host cannot make it, our General Manager (with performances at over 800 weddings under his belt) is always available to cover.
-
What advertising, self-promotion, or banners will you display?
-
None. We feel our work speaks for itself. Our DJ/Hosts carry business cards to give out to guests who request one.
-
May we come to a wedding to see you in action?
-
For a couple of reasons, that answer is no. Firstly, a wedding is a private event. We do not feel it is our place to invite people to someone else's private affair. Secondly, our DJ/Hosts will be focused on making that wedding special for the bride and groom. That is where our attention is directed.
-
Will you do announcements / introductions?
-
Yes, unless you have an emcee or host you would rather entrust with those duties. Almost all our clients choose to have our professional DJ/Hosts handle the announcements and introductions.
-
How far will you travel and is there a travel fee?
-
There is no limit as to how far we'll travel. Our DJ/Hosts have performed at events in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and Ohio as well as Iowa, Minnesota, the Dakotas and Wisconsin. There is no travel fee within 60 miles of Mason City or Waterloo. After 60 miles, the fee is $1/mile roundtrip.
-
Will the DJ / Host be drinking alcohol or eating with our guests?
-
Our DJ/Hosts will not consume alcohol at your event. We do request a meal be provided for them at the vendor table?
-
Will our DJ / Host be overbearing in their interactions with our guests?
-
Your DJ will be as interactive or as laid back as you request.
-
How often can we call you with questions or concerns about our event?
-
You may contact us as often as you wish during normal business hours. After you book, you will also be given our manager's cell phone number which you can call or text with questions as well.
-
When will your equipment be set up?
-
Unless we cannot get access to the venue in advance, our DJ/Hosts will set up and have sound checks completed BEFORE your guest arrive.
-
Will our personal information about me event be kept private?
-
Yes. We do not share private information with third parties.
-
What is the typical amount we should tip my DJ / Host?
-
Tipping is never required nor requested. If you are exceptionally pleased with your DJ/Host, a tip of 10% to 15% of your package amount would be greatly appreciated.
-
When does our package time start and can we keep our DJ / Host longer than contracted?
-
Your package time starts at a time mutually agreed to by you and your DJ/Host…usually when you ask them to start playing music of making announcements. If you wish to keep them longer, the overtime rate is $150/hour.
-
Do you do same sex wedding receptions?
-
Yes
